Johnston scores goal against Georgiev

Faksa and Johnston lead Stars to Game 1 victory

Heiskanen adds goal and two assists

DENVER -- Radek Faksa broke a tie in his return to the Dallas lineup and 20-year-old Wyatt Johnston had two goals and an assist as the Stars beat the Vegas Golden Knights 3-2 Monday night in Game 1 of their second-round playoff series.

Miro Heiskanen had a goal and two assists for Dallas, which improved to 7-0 on the road this postseason. The Stars are the first team in NHL history to win their first seven road games in a single playoff year.

Alexandar Georgiev made 32 saves for Vegas, which lost its first game at home this postseason after going 3-0 at T-Mobile Arena in the first round against the Minnesota Wild.

Game 2 of the series is set for Wednesday night in Denver.

Faksa, who missed the last three games with an upper-body injury, gave the Stars a 1-0 lead at 10:38 of the first period when he took a pass from Heiskanen and beat Georgiev with a wrist shot from the left circle.

The Golden Knights tied it at 1-1 just 2:06 later when William Karlsson scored on a rebound off a shot by Reilly Smith.

Johnston gave the Stars a 2-1 lead at 16:33 of the second period when he took a pass from Heiskanen and beat Georgiev with a wrist shot from the slot.

Heiskanen made it 3-1 at 9:04 of the third period when he scored on a one-timer from the right circle off a pass from Johnston.

The Golden Knights pulled Georgiev with 2:30 remaining and Vegas' Chandler Stephenson scored with 1:04 left to make it 3-2.

But Dallas held on to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

The Stars are now 8-0 in their last eight playoff games dating back to last season. The Golden Knights are 1-4 in their last five playoff games.
